3D printing essentials

Useful tips before ordering a 3D print

A quick English introduction to preparing a model, choosing a filament and deciding how a part should be printed.

PLA or PETG?

PLA is generally easier to print and excellent for visual prototypes. PETG is often preferred for certain functional parts exposed to moisture and regular handling. Always assess heat and mechanical conditions.

How should I prepare a file?

Share STL, 3MF or STEP when available. Include dimensions in millimetres, quantity, material preferences, tolerances and reference pictures if the part must fit an existing object.

Why do dimensions vary?

Thermal shrinkage, machine calibration, print orientation and feature size affect final dimensions. Small fit tests can save time on multi-part assemblies.

Are more walls or infill always better?

Not necessarily. Strength depends on load direction, wall structure, material and geometry. More material can increase cost and time without addressing the actual weak direction.

Large-scale prints

Oversized parts are typically divided into sections. Planning joints, structural stiffness, surface finishing and packing is essential.

How is a quote prepared?

We review the model and intended use, estimated printing time, material, quantity and finishing work. An individual quote is more reliable than a generic price per gram.
